Call for Proposals 2026 Submissions portal now closed
The 14th annual BAFTSS Conference will take place 15-17 April at the Bournemouth Highcliff Marriott Hotel.
Keynote speaker: Professor Julian Henriques (Goldsmiths)
This year, BAFTSS embarks on an exciting new journey. Alongside the decision to depart from a campus-based conference model, the Association has decided to open up its call for proposals to make space for any and all research in our fields, by dispensing with a conference theme.
We are therefore seeking abstracts for individual submissions or pre-constituted panels on any topic in any disciplinary or methodological framing. We welcome submissions for:
Traditional papers of 15 minutes
Creative practice research concerned with film and / or TV
Audio-visual scholarship in any format
Roundtables and pre-constituted panels of 3-4 submissions. We especially encourage pre-constituted panels that mix methodologies and approaches (e.g., creative practice research alongside more traditional conference papers)
Poster presentations for our PGR showcase
We also invite each BAFTSS SIG to constitute one official SIG Panel. Details should be submitted to the conference team by the deadline for proposals.
All attendees must be BAFTSS Members at the time of registration. You can join here.
Abstracts should be no more than 250 words. Please also provide a short biography, including institutional affiliation (e.g. university, college, archive, independent researcher) of up to 100 words.
Deadline: 5th December 2025 [SUBMISSIONS PORTAL NOW CLOSED]
You will be notified whether your proposal has been accepted by the end of January 2026.
