Postgraduate Network

The BAFTSS Postgraduate Student Network is envisioned as a section of BAFTSS, led by postgraduate students within film, television and screen studies that will form a supportive peer network for postgraduates within the field. The aim of the network is to encourage postgraduate involvement with the aims and activities of BAFTSS by promoting and supporting research, learning and teaching, and achievements of postgraduates in the fields of film, television and screen studies.

Proposed Aims and Activities of BAFTSS-PGN

  1. To form a representative body for postgraduate students within BAFTSS, representing their interests to the main BAFTSS committee and providing a forum for them at BAFTSS events.
  2. Promote and foster initiatives, events and knowledge exchanges within the field that support postgraduate career development in research, learning and teaching.
  3. To establish an online space and forum through which information and experience relevant to postgraduates within the field, such as resources, internship opportunities and calls for papers, can be shared electronically between them. This will be developed to complement the main BAFTSS page.
  4. Establish mutually beneficial links with postgraduate sections within other related academic organisations such as MeCCSA, NECS and SCMS and organisations outside academia such as the BFI.
