Conference Bursary Fund (Standard)

BAFTSS is making available 5 Conference Bursaries of up to £200 each to support attendance at the Association's annual conference for those members who are precariously employed or otherwise lack, or have limited access to, research funding. There is another scheme for Postgraduate Researchers (including MA, MRes and PhD students), and another to support attendance at other conferences.

Rules / small print
  • Applicants musts be members of BAFTSS. Join / renew.
  • Applicants must be registered to attend this year's BAFTSS conference in-person and be presenting their research as a research paper or video essay. 
  • If there are more than 5 eligible applicants, priority will be given to:
- applicants who do not have access to other research funding 
- applicants who have not previously received BAFTSS funding (including New Connections, Conference Travel, Quarterly Travel and SIG funding
in 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 ​)
- diversity of subject matter & accuracy of costing details will also be taken into account
  • Awardees will be able to claim up to £200 on provision of receipts after the 2026 BAFTSS Conference. Reimbursement can cover travel costs (2nd class for trains), accommodation and/or conference registration fees. BAFTSS does not cover for meals or association membership fees.
