Quarterly Travel Fund (Standard)

  • The Quarterly Travel Fund (Standard) offers awards of £200 to support those BAFTSS members not on permanent contracts, or who otherwise lack, or have limited access to, research funding, to attend and present research at scholarly events. There is a separate quarterly scheme for Postgraduate Researchers (MA, MRes and PhD students), and another to support attendance at the BAFTSS Annual Conference.
  • There are four rounds per year for this scheme. Events must take place in the 3 months before or after the following deadlines: 1 March, 1 June, 1 September, 1 December.
  • There are 3 bursaries available per round.
  • Applicants must be members of BAFTSS at the time of application.
  • If there are more than 3 eligible applicants per round, priority will be given to:
- applicants who do not have access to other research funding
- applicants who have not previously received BAFTSS funding (including New Connections, Conference Travel, Quarterly Travel and SIG funding in 2024-2025 and 2025-2026)
- diversity of subject matter & accuracy of costing details will also be taken into account
  • Awardees will be able to claim up to £200 on provision of receipts after the conference or event outlined in the form. Reimbursement can cover travel costs (for train: 2nd class tickets), accommodation costs and/or conference registration fees. BAFTSS does not cover for meals or association membership fees.
  • Applicants will be notified of the outcome in the weeks following each deadline. Please submit any queries to James Harvey and Yue Su
